A superb atmospheric still life by Marek Zulawski (1908 - 1985).

Son of philosopher and writer Jerzy Zulawski (1874-1915), Zulawski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw before gaining a scholarship and moving to Paris in 1926. Before the breakout of the war he moved to London where he would work and paint for the rest of his artistic career until his death in 1985.

He had 26 solo shows in countries including Australia, England, Italy, Poland and the United States, as well as participating in over 150 joint exhibitions, frequently showing with the London Group (Jacob Epstein, Wyndham Lewis, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska etc.)

His works are in several collections worldwide including the V&A, in London.
